Osseo Education Center students celebrate Black History Month

Students and staff at the Osseo Education Center have spent February celebrating Black History Month. On Feb. 11, all students gathered for an all-school movie. They watched “The Six Triple Eight,” based on the true story of an all-black, all-female battalion during WWII. On Feb. 20, students celebrated Black History Month with a soul food sampling, tasting foods such as fried chicken, candied yams, cornbread, mac and cheese, greens with smoked turkey, sweet potato pie and peach cobbler. On Feb. 14, 21 and 28, students visited the Minnesota African American Heritage Museum & Gallery to learn more about the history, art and culture of African Americans in Minnesota.
